Share with us stories about your grey.  What kind of methods have you used to teach your parrot?  What are the results?  Describe how your grey has learned to communicate with you.....verbally, body language, telepathically, and so on.

Has your parrot used a phrase within a different context of how the phrase was taught?

For example, I taught my greys the concept of "Look."  I would repeat "Look at that bird.....   look at that foot....  look at that tail."  Look became a contact call game they used to make me run into the room to "Look at that bird."   One morning a crow flew by the kitchen window while we were eating breakfast.   Sweet Pea said, "Aw! Aw! Look!" to show me the crow.  She did not know how to say crow but knew how to make the crow sound.  She used "Look" in a different context from which she had learned.

Has your parrot used a combination of phrases that he/she has learned from other circumstances?

For example, my Merlin Tewillager took a trip with me to California.  She was having such a good time at this lovely place and was joyful to have me to herself.  She bounced on her perch saying, “This a...such a.... fun...yuk, yuk!”  These were parts of phrases that she had learned separately.

Does your parrot use complicated syntax and sentence structure? Does he/she correctly use pronouns and verb tenses?  Does he/she use them in  different situations from the ones learned?

For example, Merlin is obsessed with water.  So, I took her to the beach for her birthday.  We sat by the ocean for a while....then we went to a pond to talk with the ducks.  Finally, we ended the day at the harbor where we watched the sea gulls.  When we were returning, Merlin looked very contented and said, “Saw the waters.”  Obviously to her, there were three different waters. She had never referred to water in plural before that day.
