INTRODUCTION

I’ve had the benefit from publishing the African grey magazine, The Grey Play Round Table®, of hearing story after story about the incredible intelligence of African greys and how they appropriately act and understand what they’re doing. Many are capable of learning something in one context and using it in another. Many speak appropriately and have learned to say words/phrases their humans don’t remember teaching them. A few even have reputations for simple forms of abstract thinking and utilizing appropriate grammatical syntax.

www.AfricaNature.com has been created to provide an interactive forum for all pet humans to share their stories and to document them in a way so that we can contribute to science and the world another layer of understanding of animal intelligence and consciousness. This Web Site is as good as the individual involvement of every pet human. Please visit and participate often!

Every African grey is special. This Site is not meant to aggrandize the talkative motor mouths....there is something unique about every single grey companion.... that can give us a better understanding of the nature of animals and ourselves. We want to hear the loving stories....the funny stories...the intellectually astounding stories.

Once one becomes attached to a companion bird, especially an incredibly sensitive and intelligent bird like an African grey, one begins to wonder how intelligent the rest of nature must be. Our African greys can provide that doorway into viewing and understanding nature from a new perspective.
